Heyyyy!

Welcome to the rabbit hole!

I'm about to take you on a journey into copywriting.

BUT FIRST...

What is copywriting?

Copywriting is basically when brands pay you to write stuff for them. That could be for their blog. Their website. Their social media. Their adverts. Their catalogs.

Sometimes you'll write copy to persuade readers to do something.

Other times, you'll write copy to inform and entertain the reader.

There are also different 'types' of copywriting.

There's long-form copy and there's short-form copy.

Long-from is -well - long! It's a little meatier and is usually written with the goal of informing and entertaining the reader. Examples include blogs, newsletters, whitepapers, and e-books.

Short-form is - you guessed it - short copy! This includes stuff like social media captions, adverts, emails, and website copy. A lot of the time, short-form copy is written with the goal of persuading the reader to do something (like buy a product).

As you can see, there's a whole lot of variety when it comes to copywriting. And as a copywriter, YOU can choose what kind of writing you do.

AND THAT'S NOT ALL.

You can narrow it down evennnn more and choose to write for a particular topic or industry.

This is called a copywriting niche and it's basically an area that you decide to 'specialise in.'

You might decide to become a fashion copywriter. Or a gaming copywriter. Or a medical copywriter.

The choices are endless.

If you got this far down, I'm impressed! You must be REALLY serious about this whole copywriting career thing.
