I'm about to take you on a journey into copywriting.

​

BUT FIRST...

​

What is copywriting?

​

Copywriting is basically when brands pay you to write stuff for them. That could be for their blog. Their website. Their social media. Their adverts. Their catalogs.

​

Sometimes you'll write copy to persuade readers to do something. 

​

Other times, you'll write copy to inform and entertain the reader. 

​

There are also different 'types' of copywriting.

​

There's long-form copy and there's short-form copy.

​

Long-from is -well - long! It's a little meatier and is usually written with the goal of informing and entertaining the reader. Examples include blogs, newsletters, whitepapers, and e-books.

​

Short-form is - you guessed it - short copy! This includes stuff like social media captions, adverts, emails, and website copy. A lot of the time, short-form copy is written with the goal of persuading the reader to do something (like buy a product).

​

As you can see, there's a whole lot of variety when it comes to copywriting. And as a copywriter, YOU can choose what kind of writing you do.

​

AND THAT'S NOT ALL.

​

You can narrow it down evennnn more and choose to write for a particular topic or industry.

​

This is called a copywriting niche and it's basically an area that you decide to 'specialise in.'

​

You might decide to become a fashion copywriter. Or a gaming copywriter. Or a medical copywriter.

​
